homemade mechanical pencil stylus for ipad

Having bought several commercial styluses so far and realizing they all aren't useful beyond tapping on large web buttons, I felt I had to customize one for my everyday use. The rubberized ones are really sticky and sketching can become a real fight against friction, especially if you are someone like me who choose not to use screen protectors, since i really love the feel of glass against my pen/finger. Believe me it's worth the effort.

I decided to give up combing the apple theme shops and made one on my own - an architect's stylus suited for sketching

Items required:

Conductive foam-the sort used to package electronic chips
Scissors - i ended tearing off an approximate 20mm x 20mm piece of 4mm thick foam
Metallic pen object - an old mechanical pencil with unscrewed tip. another source stated that a steadler clutch pencil with a metallic finger grip at the end will also work. Note: the key functioning enabler to the pen is its material, a conductive one like metal, since the capacitive screen requires a flow of electrons from your finger tips through the conductive foam and then to the screen. The foam had a sort of bulbous tip because the ipad requires more electrons than an iPhone. A skinnier amount wouldn't work too well, since it requires a fair amount of pressure to be applied because the foam needs to be compressed.
Super glue - to glue the foam onto the pencil since stuffing it wouldn't make it stay permanently.

The result - an excellent stylus for sketching and note taking, an example of which was used with noteshelf in the above post. Commercial styluses tend to lack the weight, or come in that rubberized version which make quick hatching strokes a real chore. I am used to using a heavier pencil to sketch on paper, hence this simulates the experiece very closely.
